Bands named CHAOS can be found in many local scenes all over the world. Our Warsaw CHAOS chose this one in defiance of the then fashion for long and absurd names of other groups operating at the time. Maybe not very sophisticated and original, but they preferred to leave originality to what they created themselves. They started in 1987. At a time when the term hardcore was increasingly used in Poland, and bands tried to propose a fresh perspective on music and the need to create an intercity and international network that was to serve the flow of information, disseminate recordings created in the underground or make it easier to organize concerts. The capital's CHAOS was one of those new bands of the Hardcore Punk wave from the second half of the 80s. Quite quickly they became one of the better bands of the local scene, standing out from the rest of the country at the same time.Their first full concert was a performance alongside TZN XENNA during Rock Front. Shortly afterwards they played with bands such as MOSKWA and FOTONESS. They performed at the Rock Pokoju festival and also played a number of concerts outside Warsaw (Bielsko Biała, Trzebinia, Biała Podlaska, Poznań, Łódź, Wyszków, Grodzisk Mazowiecki). In 1989, they released the tape “Trzy” at their own expense, which was also released on Enigmatic Tapes and as a split with Poznań’s H.C.P. on Rebel Art Tapes.Their last concert was a performance alongside the legendary American VERBAL ASSAULT at Warsaw’s Hybrydy. Despite being invited to the Jarocin festival in 1990, their performance unfortunately did not take place. The reason was the emigration of one of the musicians. After 1990, the ship with the Polish Hardcore flag gained wind in its sails, but there was no CHAOS flag on board anymore. If they had existed even a little longer, the band would certainly be more often mentioned and listed alongside THE CORPSE, H.C.P., ID, U.O.M., TRYBUNA BRUDU, OD JUTRA or SKTC, as the most important groups shaping the independent Hardcore Punk scene of the turn of the 80s and 90s.CHAOS belongs to this set and their place among the aforementioned groups is theirs. The demo they left behind is so solidly recorded and played that it would be an oversight not to remind about this important band of the HC wave of the late 80s.This vinyl is equipped with a booklet with archival photos and a reprint of an interview from the zine QQRYQ. Mastering from the original tape was done by Smok and Mario / Studio As One.
